This is a unique opportunity to get down into the trenches of a growing business and product, work with cutting-edge technologies, be immersed in a seriously awesome company culture, and solve challenging problems daily. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the VP of Engineering to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure.  At the same time, on a daily basis, you will be leading the work and using an agile development concept to add to the primary education software

Here are the essential job functions that our team is looking forward to adding to the workforce with our new team member:

  • Design, build, and maintain Ruby code that is efficient, reusable, and reliable
  • Drive continuous adoption and integration of relevant new technologies into design
  • Collaborate with distributed team members in a Scrum / Agile development environment
  • Ability to interpret complex requests & implement based on aggressive timelines
  • Help maintain and improve code quality, organization and automation
  • A candidate will advance through our recruiting process if they can demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities including:
  • Strong knowledge of Ruby, Rails, Rspec, ActiveRecord and associated technologies
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL
  • Experience with full lifecycle of product development, validation and deployment
  • Experience with Agile design and release methodologies
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Implementation of automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments and continuous integration, devops tools
  • Experience with Heroku and AWS cloud platforms
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and concepts
  • At least 3 years of related experience using the aforementioned tools and technique
